Well, hell... it's been so long since I wrote a blog I'm not sure where I would even start. How about I start with, "I'm sorry!"
Writing has been the sole focus of my writing for quite a while and I get to where I say to myself, "Self, what's the point? It's not adding words to the book." And while writing, I fall down a rabbit hole and forget half of what I'm supposed to do. So, I've decided to structure my day a little differently.
Butt crack of dawn - start writing pen pal letters
11:00 am - eat lunch (I eat like a little kid! Right now mini corn dogs and Veggie Tots are my favorite.) and listen to an audio book.
12:00 pm - Get my crap in order and get ready to actually write instead of think about writing. Sometimes I'll start a writing sprint with my dear friends at the Thriving Authors Academy (waves furiously at everyone 👋) Most Wednesdays I will attend my Mastermind group with Author Ever After until 1:00 pm.
1:00 pm - I do my writing sprints with the girls from Author Ever After (waving at all y'all too 👋)
3:00 pm - I have someone come in to help me around the house 3 days a week and I normally have to go for that.
4:00 pm - I read like I've never read before, well... I read like I have been all year furiously. Because now is my time, to add to my author well.
But, lately, I've found that I've had more doctor's appointments that I would like to have and it's taken me away from what I want to do the most, write. The photo for this post was in a local restaurant called Hosler's Family Restaurant (if you're ever in Malone, NY you should stop by. Ask for Sarah to be your waitress, she's the best!) and I sat there for over an hour working on my manuscript on my iPad (not my writing method of choice) in the restaurant by myself. At first I was okay with it, then it got to be a little scary (I have anxiety) because there were so many people coming in. But Sarah told me that I could sit there until I was done and she'd refill my soda until it was time to head out. What a sweetie.
I got a chapter rewritten since I'm changing from third person past (he, she, they) to first person present. I read an article this morning (which prompted me to write this) that warns against things that could go wrong in first person. I choose to ignore that article and its negative vibes and I'm going to continue to write first person.
Question of the day:
Do you like books written in first person? What about alternating POVs in first person? I'd love to hear what you have to say in the comments.
